I learned some new info today after spending some considerable time searching for some 7/8 tubing to make me some new handlebars. Ive always wanted to try making some but have had a hard time locating the right OD pipe. Turns out I found a good website that supplies tubing for motorcyle frames at www.metalsdepot.com
They are reasonable on shipping and prices.

However I also found out that the 3/4 galvanized water pipe you buy at lowes or homedepot has a 7/8 O/D too and that stuff is strong enough they recommend it to build scaffolding out of so I know it will hold up to make handlebars.

Just thought I would pass this info on. Good riding everyone.

Wow....water pipe? Cool, you can thread the ends and put a spigot on one end and fill the bar with scotch.......

actually the pipe would already be threaded at both ends so there you go. Just run u a garden hose up to your helmet and youll be set.

no im not. Im going with the "broomstick" look. You have to be careful when you lean your bike over when parked or the bars will hit the tank but it wont affect your driving. Just going to sand, drill, and paint the pipe black. I actually made a mock set out of conduit to see if i liked the look and it really looked cool to me. When im done I will post pics.

Just get some 2-inch risers and then the straight bars should clear the tank.
