Has anyone ever used a product called the "Green Light Trigger"? And if so does it really work?......... It can be seen at greenlightstuff.com .

On a different note.... Tomorrow I start my stator replacement project...Yipee!:(

I picked up one from J.C. Whitney that was suppose to do the same thing. It was small and easy to install; and did not help. I don't know about this particular one, but I have gotten scheptical. There was another thread about a week ago about using speaker magnets to so the same job. I am looking for some old speakers to give that a try.

Fully actuated lights suck -- even when i'm not on the bike i see morons on roads around here that don't understand that if they're too far forward or to far back their *car* won't trigger the light.[/rant]

Green light triggers work -- if you use them right.

Same thing can be said about the frame of your 750 or the kickstand though.

For those that don't know: Fully actuated lights (lights that change signal based on which portion of the intersection a vehicle is at) are magnetic based. A magnetic strip embedded into the road 'senses' a hunk o' metal above it and changes the light.

The problem with bikes is occasionally they don't have enough metal (or the right type (i.e. aluminum instead of steel)) to set off the trigger. Much more often, though, improper bike placement is why the trigger never hits (there's so little metal on the bike it has to be in the right spot).

The 'green light triggers' have the same problem as the bike . . . if they're not in the correct place they're not going to set off the trigger.

All of that said, I've never had a problem with my 750 at a light where i can see the strips (so i know where to position myself). Don't know if this is because of the frame, the center stand, the sidestand, etc.

One trick i have heard that sounds helpful (all bikes) is if you're unable to trigger the light normally but can see the strips, put your side stand down directly on top of the strip. The proximity of the metal should make up for how little there actually is.

Ack. [looks up to see how much he typed.] Not a short answer, but 'no' i don't think green light magnets help as much as being educated on the subject.

I truely believe that alot of drivers don't realize how most traffic lights work these days with the sensors in the road. At a local bridge replacement project where one lane is being replaced at a time, and opposing traffic must wait at a temporary light to allow oncomming traffic to use the remianing lane. The construction Co. actually put up signs to tell drivers where to stop to activate the sensors. Hopefully this will help to educate some of these people,.... but then again maybe not..........:doh:

I think you can be more confident than that. I've had two extremely frustrating experiences with Lights this past week.

The last light/intersection before my work has a *very* steep angle to see the light from the stop line. So the guy at the front of the line (I'm three back) is two full car lengths from the stop line. In three cycles the light never cycles to our side . . . and this is a 5 stage light . . . so that's a long time. The guy in the front finally gets fed up with the light not changing and runs the red . . . never realizing that it's his fault the light wasn't changing in the first place. We get the green less than a minute later.

The other one was pulling out at a supermarket that had a light to the main road. I'm at the front of the line and look for the magnetic strip and notice that it's not in all the lanes (brilliant design). Oddly the people to the left and right of me seem too skittish to come to the stop line, and one is half way off his lane. What finally got it moving was the person to the left of me pulling up enough to laugh about how long the light was taking to change (two half cycles (3 stage light, only actuated on the other side of the road)) and put his truck squarely over the sensor.

It's one of the things that bothers me most on the road (if you can't tell : )). Also in this area, there are too many lights that are fully actuated full-time (as opposed to those that are on a timer during peak driving times). This really screws with traffic flow in both the grid and major road patterns, since timed lights stay somewhat in sync, actuated ones almost never do.

I have one and haven't been stranded at a light since. Around here you can see the magnetic sensor line in the asphalt and I align my left foot on top of the sensor which is where I mounted mine on the frame just in front of my left foot peg.
