Hey everyone this is my first post and I need your opinion on a possible purchase of a 2002 VN750.

The bike has 677 total miles on it and has been garage stored since it was originally purchased back in 02. The bike comes with three helmets but no bags or aftermarket parts for the bike. The owner wants $4500 for it so I was wondering if this was a reasonable amount or should I offer $4000 or a little less?

Let me know what you guys think since this will be my first bike.

I think with only 677 miles on it its a good deal but I would still offer less o start out with....he might really need the cash and take it. Have you taken it for a test ride?

Thats what I was thinking...aparently he just wants to get rid of it right now (not cash strapped from what I can see). I didnt have the chance to take it for a ride since he doesnt have insurance on it right now (getting it put back on so I can take it for a ride) but I made sure to fire it up to make sure she started ok and it did.

No chance it's a new speedo?

Bike look like it has 677 miles on it?

Did he buy it new? Ask to see a bill of sale.
I know not many miles, but perhaps a 500 mile maintenance receipt?

Just over cautious, my nature.

The bike doesnt have a scratch or any impefection on it (besides some dust from bein in the garage for so long). The owner is my coworkers father-in-law so he knows the history of the bike and has attested to it only being ridden a couple of times. I've been working with the guy for a while now so I take his word for it.

Not sure if he has the reciepts for it, I will ask for them next time I see the bike.

The guy bought it as a mid life chrisis thing I guess and just got tired of riding after a few trips on it (said it wasnt for him).

Yeah I am pretty sure he took good care of it since it started right away when I went and saw it. Plus all of his other vehicles looked like they were very well maintained (generally a good sign).

Doesn't sound like too bad a deal to me. But I'd certainly start with a lower offer than what he's asking. Even if the two of ya agree on $50 less than his price, that's $50 ya got towards some add-ons for the Vulcan !!

And even if the splines haven't been checked for grease, they should still be in good condition with only that amount of miles. But be sure to make that one of your first maintenance chores !!

Hope ya stick around if ya do get it. Good luck :smiley_th
