I have no plans to replace Veronica as long as she'll keep on running. BUT I'm always thinking about what I would replace her with if I needed to. I of course have my dream bikes (Triumph Rocket 3 for example), but I'm talking what current production bike is closest to the Vulcan 750. Kawasaki's offerings aren't really there. The 650 seems too small for longer cruising days, the 900 is slower, and the 1700 is larger. I think I settled on the Indian Scout Rogue Sixty (or Indian Scout Rogue for a bump in power). It has a similar weight/size and power as the beloved 750. Perhaps the HD Nightster, but it feels quite stripped down compared to the Scout.

What are your thoughts on a modern equivalent?

I like the Sportster's agility. And plenty of them for sale!

I don’t know if it’s an “equivalent” but this is what I want (I don’t care if the 750 lasts forever as soon as I have a place to park another bike it’s mine!)

I love everything about this bike except for the seat and the rear fender. Never been a fan of the "banana seats". THat color scheme is great, though!

Investing in a 883 or 1200 Sportster, new or used, is a good idea. This is the last production year.

That Z is cheaper than finding a resorted original!

I'm thinking Victory Gunner or Octane, but it's a bad time to buy, prices are so overinflated.

HD Street 750? Royal Enfield classic 650?, Guzzi! (Guzzi actually has good prices but terrible dealer network)

Banana seat gives you almost unlimited legroom too.

How about a V-Strom? 650, 800, or 1050.

Back in college, I rode with a guy who's 6'6" or so. He was on a GS850 (banana seat), I was on my GS750. He'd be going down the road and scoot back to give his legs a stretch. I've never liked saddle seats, too restrictive. I put a banana on my Goldwing 😁. Sweet.

A rusted up parking lot find. I turned it into this 😍. Stupid for selling it. c1986?

Wow that's nice.

I did the same thing, sliding to the back. I've been there on the Vulcan too for short stretches, it feels unstable sitting that high.
