After rebuilding my master cylinder with a K&L rebuild kit as well as my calipers (replaced both piston seals) It seems like I am not getting enough power out of the system to efficiently stop the bike.

Granted, I have no idea how the brakes felt prior to rebuilding since the master cylinder was frozen with years of crud caked onto the piston.

it feels like the pads are not pressing hard enough against the rotors to be able to stop me quickly enough. When I am at a standstill testing the brakes, It holds well enough that the tire will drag across the pavement, but again, when coming to a stop, it fells like its taking too long.

I've bled the lines and I'm not getting even the tiniest hin of air in the system. I'm at a bit of a loss.

I suppose i may be making a mistake to comparing the stopping ability to my Honda rebel which is of course a smaller and much lighter bike. However, I am sill a bit concerned.

Ideas, suggestions? am I just over reacting here?

Kinda hard to tell without riding it, but as mentioned in other posts, the duel front brakes on the bike are pretty good at stopping the bike. Did you install new pads? Are you sure Both calipers are functioning correctly.

Perhaps someone that lives near you can check the bike.

No film on the rotors is there? Made a mistake of using some degreaser on the front rim and some splashed onto the rotors. Took me three cleanings of the rotors and pads with brake part cleaner to get my stopping distance back to normal.

Yeah, put new pad on. As far as I can tell, both calipers are working properly. The piston on each applies pressure to the disc when the lever is squeezed.

I'll try giving the discs a good cleaning next.

It does take new pads awhile to "bed in". Your not supposed to make hard stops foe awhile after installing them. Many easy stops repeated quickly... Like going through a large subdivision with alot of stop signs.

Do keep in mind that a 520+ pound bike takes some energy to stop... But handful of the front brake lever can lock the wheel on this bike.

Something is DEFINITELY wrong. The Vulcan 750 has enough braking power to lock the front wheel with one finger. The brake lever is an on/off switch. Mine was so bad I removed one complete rotor/disc/line assembly, and ran a hose from the master cylinder to the left front brake. Even with one front brake it still has plenty of braking power, but you are much less likely to lock the brakes by accident. I replace my brake fluid once a year, and bleed it carefully. There is virtually no play in the lever. I can still lock the wheel (by trying) with 2 fingers.
