I have a 94 vulcan I have replaced the master cyclinder with rebuild kit;new lines and calipers and I still have no brakes I have tried to bleed them manually with socket and I still don't get any brakes I have to get this fixed so I can get inspection any ideas would be appreciated please again I'm lost

have you tried to "Gravity Bleed" the breaks? Tie the brake lever to the throttle grip, open the master cylinder cap, and the bleeder valve at the brake calipers. then let sit over night.

yes you need to fill it up with brake fluid, and adding more might be required as well. another idea is take a Turkey Baster or syringe and fill it full of brake fluid, then inject the fluid through the calipers forcing the fluid back through to the brake reservoir. (again leaving the cap off).. repeat several times until no more air bubble come out of the master cylinder.

Ok so I did the gravity bleed on the brakes and for some reason the rebuild kit I put on is not shooting fluid to my calipers or lines I took the master cylinder back off and cleaned it again put it all on put fluid in it and still not pushing fluid when I squeeze the brake its no pressure at all I c bubbles in the master cylinder when I squeeze but getting nothing out of lines or calipers I mean nothing what am I doing wrong

-there will be zero brake pressure with the brake resivoir open first of all. (assuming it was because you said you saw bubbles)

-if you see bubbles than there is air in the system and the brakes just need to be bled.

air compresses very easily and brake fluid doesnt.

too much air means the air will compress before there is enough pressure to move the brake pistons.

That is not true.

jwinkler, do you know what it means to bleed the brakes?

With the reservoir filled, you'll need a hose on the bleeder valves on your calipers that goes to a container. Then you'll open those bleeders with a wrench and pump the brake lever until fluid comes out of the bleeder, through the hose you attached and into your container. Then close the bleeder.

Careful when you pull the lever, it can squirt fluid out of the reservoir and onto your bike. This stuff is caustic, it will eat paint. Maybe set the cap on the reservoir while pumping the lever. But make sure the level in the reservoir doesn't drop low enough that it can suck in air.

You'll need to repeat this for the other caliper as well.

Once you have the brake lines filled, you'll pump the brake lever until it builds up some pressure, while holding it in, open the bleeder fitting and let the air bubbles out. You'll close it again before all the pressure at the handle is gone. You'll repeat this process many times. It'll help to have an extra set of hands around.

When I did it I couldn't get all the pressure needed by this method alone. That's when you do what Slim mentioned. Pull the lever in until there is a lot of pressure, tie it to the bar, and lit it sit overnight. This firmed mine up immensely.

Thanks for the info guys I did it but I'm gettingpressure in my lines but I noticed the master cylunder is not pushing any brake fluid I have took it off six times and cleaned it and still nothing when I tryed to use sryinge from the calipers up but it will not send it up to master cylinder i am getting fluid to the lines even the main one by the master cylinder it just wont go back in the master cylinder :(

Do you feel feedback on the lever, as if it is pressurizing? If so, make sure your calipers aren't stuck. If you are not building up pressure, then perhaps you were given the wrong piston in the rebuild kit, or the bore in the master cylinder is damaged. Does the lever come all the way back to the grip.

I experienced the same thing. Squeeze and squeeze and nothing. I hooked up a vaccum pump withe a catch jar inline with the bleeder screw and vaccumed the fluid through while all the time keeping the master cylinder full of fluid so it wouldn't suck air. I did that with both calipers. when I finished I had perfect brakes.
