If anyone has been thinking of making some KM style floorboards, I have some cut and ready to finish and put on. They're made of 1/4" aluminum. I paid $35 just for the aluminum, and to have them cut to size. I finished the angle cuts and such to match KM's blueprints. All that is left is to finish smoothing them on the edges, drill the holes, glue on rubber and install them. I think I even have some stainless mounting bolts I can throw in. I'll have to check, though. I'd like to get $35 for them as they sit.

Here's some pics - I did both front and back boards. For some reason I can't get the thumbnails to show up here, but click on the link to view them.

Bump. Just want to get this back up front. No one's looking to do their own floorboards?

That is why I make mine from 3/8 T6 harden aircraft grade aluminum. it is more expensive but worth it.

The passenger boards are fine using 1/4 plate, but for the pilots boards, I think 1/4 inch is too thin. the length from the holes to the back of the board is about 8 inches. So if you weigh a good 180 or so it is possible to bend them if you put all your weight on one..(like getting on the bike)

I used 3/8 stock also for the front. Am not saying you will bend the 1/4 inch ones, just that it is possible....under the right conditions.

If you are asking $35 for both the front and back floorboards, I'd call that a pretty good deal. You can buy the stainless bolts at Lowes or ACE for about 5 bucks...

Yep, that's what I'm asking. I have to look, but I may even have the bolts. The only reason I made them out of 1/4" was because that was all I could find in my area. I checked with several places that worked with metal, or would have metal, and I only found one guy who had the 1/4". He did the rough cuts to size on a break, then I cut them to shape on a table top band saw. I started sanding them, then that's as far as I got.

I figure if someone really wanted to beef the front ones up, they could maybe put a couple of gussets on the bottom - if they have a way of welding aluminum, that is.
