Has anyone used a flashing LED brake lights? Did you like them? I was thinking about using these as I like the 3 flashes once a minute when applying brake. BUT they seem pretty low on the illumen output.. I want brighter & the pulse after applying brake.

Looks quicker, simpler than wiring in a brake light modulator and same cost or cheaper.
would I need two bulbs? I think our bikes use 2 1157 bulbs if I'm not mistaken.

Spring can't come back soon enough for me. Here in Michigan, Mid-February I saw people out on their bikes on 60+ day and got a bit jealous that day.

Don't care for the rear brake light modulators.
I want the car behind me to know when I'm breaking hard as opposed to "briefly"....

I do like bright however. I think it's a better idea to wire up an extra brake light (like they have on cars) You could replace that reflector on the tool box with a trailer light and wire it to the brake circuit.

Back when I decided that a change to the stock rear lighting was in order I considered the flashing setup. Ultimately I didn't go that route. Different states have different laws as to what they allow in regards to flashing brakes. I, instead, went with more lights to see. So now in addition to the two light sources inside the stock brake housing, my turn signals also act as brake lights and running lights. Additionally my license plate holder has two horizontal rows of red LEDs that act as running lights and brake lights. So it went from the two-in-the-brake-housing to six altogether. The license plate holder also has two vertical rows of LEDs that do not act as running lights but are dedicated turn signals. So it went from the standard two turn signals to now four turn signals. The bike is very visible from the rear but doesn't look "wrong" or outlandish at all. Since the overall objective is to make yourself more visible/noticeable to the cage-people coming up behind you, both flashing light method and more light method will work. Choose what turns your crank!

I am convinced.

Do any have any info available of what lights you purchased or if you had to change anything to maintain blink rate and acceptable "load" ? LED or traditional?

Electrical stuff intimidates me more than mechanical. I will search for threads at home on adding and wiring or pics of your setup.

I'm like you in that I detest electrical issues. I am far more mechanically inclined than electrically able. For my light modifications I visited a site called Custom Dynamics. If you read around in there you'll find the answers you seek. There are probably many other companies offering the same kind of setups but this is the place that I went to.
