my final drive coupling blew out on me and also messed up the teeth on the final drive/pinion drive. i do not have 800 dollars to replace it. i was thinking about buying a new coupling and drilling a hole through the new coupling as well as through the final drive, and putting a rod through it. i just wanted some feedback as to whether or not it will work. is there any other way of fixing this without having to replace the entire final drive? is there anyone selling just a pinion gear/ drive portion? - tim

That won't work, because that is a slip joint. It slips back and forth as the wheel goes up and down on the uneven road surface.
Sorry.
