Hear me out before yelling at me:

Can we jump the bike off of a standard 12v car battery, WITHOUT the car running? When my stator died, I drove my bike home with a jumper box hooked up and that worked well enough. Could you use a car battery to just get the bike started if need be?

Yes, no problem at all.

You could mount the car battery on the back rack and ride if you had to.

The problem with jumping from a running car alternator, the R/R could get fried. Don't think it always happens, but is a possibility.

I've thought of that but the voices said "what if youze ain't on a hill? Youze gonna push a 700 pound bike and sidecar up a hill? We wanna see dat, Slick! (snicker snicker)"

Thus the jump port and booster cables in the sidecar.

Today's mod. External holder on the sidecar for my cane! :grin2:
I had my gl1100 set up to hold my cane

OK, y'all know how I said "does it ever end" in a previous post? Well the universe heard me and it hasn't ended.

Pin hole leak in bottom radiator hose. Made it home though. Of course it's the big on one end, small on the other, a nobody has it not even Kawasaki hose.

Crap crap crap....

Any substitute hoses?

partzilla has it, part no. 39062A or 39062-1100. It's about $16 + shipping, total is about $24.

Belated reply

Thanks, ordered not one but 2 lower hoses. Leading mount on the sidecar loosened enough to punch hose. I fixed the hose
the same day. (and the mount!)

Autozone has 1.5 inch emergency splice kits. Had to cut splice down to .75 inch on each side to fit the bend.
Looks fugly but has held up for a week's riding. Could work if you're on the road and can't get a new hose.

Thanks!

It's DONE!!!

All electrical mods, mccts adjusted, splines lubed and fresh oil, floorboards installed, RR relocated. Amp meter shows 13.7 charging but reads 14.4 at battery charge port. (cheap analog meter).

Now it's riding and routine maintenance!

I'm happy.

Did the ignition coil direct wire to the battery today. Bike starts better, idles runs better and seems to have more power. Should have done it sooner, seems there was a wiring problem there. Used the write up here so can go back if needed. But I don't think I will.

Even had to back the idle down.

Still Happy! And the voices are quiet.....

I was wrong!!

Since I was "done" I've had to add handicap mods. Extended shift toe bar, extended/widened brake pad and a heel shifter.

Never ends, do it!!! :~)
