I have a 92 vulcan 750 and the driveshaft crapped out. Was quoted 1000 bucks to fix and replace, i bought the bike for 2000. Would it be cheaper/better to 1. replace, 2. engine and tranny swap off another bike (if so how much in labor cost) 3. just part it out and sit in tears

the final drive craps out, no the transmission end of the drive shaft... it would be be better to r&r the final drive... IF you can do the work your self.. if not, then part it out.

BC..if you're handy at all with tools..buy the Clymer guide and have at it! This is my first bike to own/work on and I'm doing fairly well with it. I've already got it mostly torn down(except for a stripped bolt I'm fussin' with)..and will start rebuilding it from the ground up shortly. Removing and replacing the final drive is not a big deal and I'll bet you can find a spare one from someone on this forum or on Ebay for way, way less than a $1000..that's just robbery!!
