Engine question

Our 2000 vn750 has a strange engine sound it was knocking or tapping louder last time we ran her. We dont know a lot about bikes but ot sounds like something knocking in the header.. any advice as to what we should check... where to buy rebuild kits..etc trying to upload audio but I dont know how

Very good chance it's just the ACCTs.

Most likely the Automatic Cam Chain Tensioners (ACCTs). How many miles are on the bike?

Search the site for ACCT. Many threads regarding adjusting, rebuilding, or replacing them with MCCTs (Manual Cam Chain Tensioners)

Here's a great video showcasing the noise that the ACCTs can make. It's common for these to fail given the age of our Vulcans.

Yes, we have automatic cam chain terrorists. That’s what I like to call them because they attack when your least expect it and you think of something really terrible when it just turns out Kawisaki just wantsi to spend some more 75.00 ia tensioner others 120.00 you probably have a bad a ACCT good luck
