I am following the directions out of the Vulcan Verses on tank rust treatment using a battery charger.

However, my battery charge keeps tripping some sort of safety feature after just a second or two. I have he black lead from the charger hooked to the tap at the end of the teardrop tank shape. sparks when hooked up which indicates good connections. Red lead hooked to both black and white 14 gauge wires which have other ends wrapped around zinc bolt in SP up / water solution in tank.

Charger starts up and then makes audible circuit cut off click. After a while will try again.

What am I doing wrong, please????

Need to be sure the bolt is hanging suspended in the liquid, but not touching the tank. If it touches the tank, it's a dead short.
