I took my bike out today cause the weather was in the low 60's. She started ok, had a couple of small backfires in the rear carb, and after she warmed up I took off.
I was about 10 miles from my house, and all of a sudden she started running like crap, and lost a lot of power, and died at a stop sign.
I tried to fire her up and she would only run as long as I had my thumb on the starter switch.
After a few tries she fired up and would idle really rough and I had to keep on the throttle to keep her running. After I took off and brought the RPM's up she would run fine till I went back down to an idle.
I thought I had lost the rear coil cause yesterday I had put on a new set of plug wires, and I thought one of the wires had come off the coil.
I got her home, and pulled the rear plugs, and did a test to see if the plugs were firing, and they were, so no coil problems.
So I took the vacuum line off of the carb to the petcock to stop the flow of gas to the carbs and after it idled for a few seconds she straightened out and idled fine with great throttle response.
So my question is this, if the main jet is plugged up would it not have run at all on that cylinder?
I checked the mixture screws, and they are both at 2.5 turns.
I really don't want to pull the carbs, so I think I will try the seafoam in the fuel.
Any other ideas?

Sounds like the back carb has a flooding issue. Abit of debree on the needle seat may be the problem. Drain the bowl and spray carb cleaner to remove trash from bowl.

yeah sounds like a float stuck for a bit.. pull the drain plug.. carb spray it.. then run some Sea Foam thru it.. about 1/2 cup in a full tank and then again on a full tank and then a cap full every time you fill up.

I pulled my engine today so I could fix some water leaks.
I will post some pics of the carbs. Both intake boots were just sitting on the carbs, and the throats are full of dirt on both of them. Looks like a full clean is in order as well as jets.
I think I'm going to do the earshave and go with K&N's.
Now all I have to do is find the part numbers in the verses.
