I noticed that on different years, the back sissy bar is lower. Which years did this. I want to get rid of the huge tower on the the back of my bike.

Ya may be able to find someone willing to trade the taller one for a lower one.
I think it was an option from Kawasaki to have the extended backrest rather than the standard one.

Or, it could also be an aftermarket backrest. Do ya got a pic of it?

That is the stock one. Only way to get shorter than that is to go custom and cut the sissybar down and redo the seat yourself.
The extended backrest has a seperate pad ontop of the standard backrest.

To me, it looks like the first pic you posted seems shorter because of the rear turnsignals being mounted on the sissybar.

Oz Kaw cut his down some. You can see his HERE.

THIS ONE (hgree's bike) is the extended one.

Also.. different seats make the stock look shorter. First pic was a customized seat with the studded trim.
