Anyone know if this can be uploaded to the site without being dependent on a host link to keep it alive? Send it to the gallery maybe?

This one is so much better, I brought it forward from post #24.

I'm at the beginning of a complete re-wire, and really needed to see all the colors along with clear text, so I made a high-res version from scans of the Clymer manual's diagram and some photoshop work.

High-Res Color Wiring Diagram

I noticed Thorn made a good revision himself and added some annotations- I'm not trying to outdo anyone- just wanted to make something for how I wanted to use it, and decided to share. I'm happy to revise mine if anyone has suggestions.

I downloaded it to photobucket so should stay here but it's still dependent on a host site

As long as you have room in your gallery & you stay within size restrictions, you can upload anything to the site.
Ok, I'll look at that, hadn't put anything in a gallery or garage yet.

That's where I linked from, but I had some pics go missing from my bucket library a while back. Just putting some back in as I need them.

Stucky.....

This is not the 1985 or the Canadian model diagram right?

I would have done this sooner but swear I thought it was already in the Vulcan Verses....
Stuckyed .. lol

Beats me if it's kanuck, one of the colors didn't match my bike, maybe she's kanuck though.

Would need to compare with a known Canadian diagram, this one wasn't labeled.

If there are others floating around, we could stuck them here. The one in the manual might copyrighted?

Until this week, I wasn't aware there was any difference between US/Canada on the wiring. Pretty sure there a recent post about it though. ...searching ..

Finded it here : http://www.vn750.com/forum/19-electrical/80738-us-canada-wiring-diagram.html

Checking to see if that wire matches up. ... ... Shows the same discrepancy as the color diagram. Black/red from start button changing to black in the neck cover plug. Mine runs black/red all the way to the JB.

But i noticed, it say US and Canada, so no difference then?

big difference between US, Canadian, and World Wiring Harnesses. how do I know.. I went with three different harnesses that didn't match up the harness that was originally on my bike... which made me have to make my own since I never did find the correct one.

Well I do know the early bike with the self cancelling turn signal would have a different diagram. I did use "Canadian" as a possible example between USA bikes and those NOT for the US market.

I've seen a few discrepancies in wire colors through the years in posts here..but wasn't sure if wires were replaced by the owner or the factory.

not only different wire colors, connectors were completely different... like the red and brown connectors under the left neck cover I have seen white and yellow that had very weird pin configurations, almost didn't think the harness even came from a VN750, but when using the ROn Ayres parts innerchange they came back up as harnesses that should have fit my 1992 Model.

I'm reworking the previously distributed wiring diagram to make it more readable. Any mistakes or inclusions that people see, please add them here. Once it gets to be in real usable shape, I'll stick the finished product in a fresh thread to be stickied.

Here is the first rough draft. Wire coloring labels still need a few mysteries solved, and need to be double-checked for accuracy. Anyone with a hard-copy please chime in.

*** EDIT ***
The link to the draft was removed. The most recent version can always be found in my signature.
*** END EDIT ***

Note that the color key may be different from year to year, so please try to match Spockster's original diagram. Feel free to mention any differences by year (on top of what is already mentioned in this thread), and I will try to compile and add an appendix of known variations.

I can zoom in and see the color codes better on this first draft, but the color combinations are different than any diagram I've seen so far.

Black/white off the start button... Brown/white on the branch to the IC box ... The original was showing black/red and red/white on those two.

*laugh* well, I thought I'd saved your original diagram. WHOOPS! Where'd this one come from? Anyway, ignore draft 1, then. draft 2 from Spockster's source will be coming shortly.

Lol, I'm getting more cornfused as I go. Doing a google image search and just found this one from TOC, Shows all black from the start button, red/white on the branch to IC box.

The pinouts are still un-decipherable on the JB, though the plugs are separated in the drawing.

The fun never ends!
Ha! I just found at least two more that would muddy the waters even more. Think I'm gonna stop looking. One had pinouts on the JB, but some of the colors were not where they should be on the 10-pin.

Ok, so those were just bad reading on my part, which is what I was hoping people could help out with. If I didn't mention before, I'm RG colorblind, so ... yeah. I'll get those two changed for sure. I left a couple questionmarks around where I was less sure than other times. Anyway, the more eyes the better.

Ha! I'm RG deficient myself, and the smaller the item, the harder it is. Like the red/green LEDs on a router, forget it. Stripes on a resistor, no way!

So this seems to be the VN700-A1, VN750-A1, A2, A3, A4 (US and Canada) diagram.
Barring any errors, the next draft will be an upgrade to the wire resolution so you don't need to zoom in on the letters. Don't expect that to come quickly!

Yeah, resistors kill me. Brown? Green? Red? Gray? ... I'll never know.
