Coaster Installation Question

I'm gonna install my coasters in a couple of days, so for those of
you who done it help me out please. My bike has 488 miles. Will I need to install gskets? Can I use the original gaskets if they don't tear when I remove the reed valves? Can I use the original bolts or will they be to long? Hi-temp silicone? Thanks.

Sarge...I did not take off the reed valve cover...I just capped the air inlets w/ plastic 5/8" chair leg covers, or alternately, 1/2" brass pipe caps. Much easier, cleaner and you can hardly notice the rear one, and can't even see the front behind the right ear. I don't think you need the gaskets if you plan on installing a piece of chrome, tho...they should fit flush against the engine case....
I reused my gaskets but I used high heat silicone on all of the surfaces just to make sure there wouldn't be any leaks. My bike is an 86 with 13,000 miles. I made my own coasters; I took the reed vlave off of its block so I could use it as a spacer. I used my original bolts but I had to cut them off to keep them from bottoming out. I posted a picture of one of them in a old thread.
