I visited family about a week ago. I let my nieces and nephews sit on Veronica for fun. Despite my best efforts, someone placed a shoe on the hot exhaust pipe, leaving a bit of the shoe behind. (It seems their feet couldn't quite reach the foot pegs...) What's the best way to clean this off?

Wad of tinfoil. Use it as a scrub brush. The aluminum is a softer metal. Had the same thing happen with a potato chip bag. Flew up while riding and stuck to the header.

not sure why I called it tinfoil if it’s clearly aluminum lol

While the aluminum foil is soft, I've scratched chrome with it. When this happened to me, I let the pipes cool and either (don't remember exactly) scraped it off with my thumbnail or a credit card. Popped right off. YMMV

Aluminum foil worked well! It put a couple of tiny scratches in one spot, but you really have to look to see them. FAR less noticeable than the burned on shoe print.
