Ok, sorry I haven't been on the forum in a while.
Put the bike away in storage back in November, and have been busy with my truck, hanging over at www.fordrangerforum.com.

Anyway, last summer, I had a custom highway bar/engine guard made.
I am going to be getting a tubing bender and try to start making these myself.
Just wondering how many would be interested.

Below is a pic of it, made out of s.s.

For more pics and more of my mods,

Depending on whether you want stainless steel or cold roll steel (crs) plain steel, prices would vary from $130-$150. + Shipping.

I can make them a tad bit wider/taller as well.

I don't have a bender yet, but soon... hopefully will start making them this summer, if i can get orders...

Peace

I might have to save up for something like that. Still trying to put my wife's bike together before it gets nice out. She didn't want to learn on mine so if I want her off of mine I have to get hers running.

Looks pretty cool tho. I would probably just have you make pieces for me and assemble them here if that is an option.

I might be interested as well

Kind of a stupid question - but how sturdy is it?
I dont know... how do you define "sturdy"??

Its stiff and strong, and works great for my clamp on pegs, so i can kick my feet up and relax on long rides.

You can grab it, and shake it and the whole bike moves, its mounted strong and isn't going anywhere.
As far as actual crash protection, well i dont know, it can't not help protect the engine in a layover, lol. But i dont plan on crashing my bike.

Going to be getting a bender sometime this spring, and can start making a few here and there.

just my opinion, but if you shortened the overall "height" of the guard and then shortened the lower bracket so it runs parallel to the frame, it might not hit the fender.

Where did it actually make contact with the fender? From what I can see in the photo, it looks like the top crossbar is above the fender and as the forks compress it may hit the top of the fender. What if it wound up being below the fender to begin with?

My original design, hit and bent the forks, when i ratchet straped it down to the trailer, compressing the forks. The one in the pic, is my new design, it comes close to hitting the fender when ratcheted down and compressed, but its manageable.

I have been tinkering with the design. Right now I AM NOT making these, i have too much on my plate, i have to pull my motor out and replace the stator on my bike, i have to work on both of my atvs, and i have a truck i have to rebuild before winter, and i am getting married, and looking for a new place to live, hopefully with a bigger garage so i can do more stuff and fabricating.

But if anyone is interested down the road, i will let you know when i can start making them, IF there's a big enough demand. I would like to make like 5 (or more) at a time when i do.

Have you got any more pics from various angles? That would help me decide.
