I was thinking during a long ride last weekend that I might be more comfortable if the handle bars were tipped back toward me just a little. Is it OK to loosen the clamp bolts and pull the bar back a little. The distance would not be much, just a few degrees of pivot. I don't want to have to re-position any of the controls or wiring.

If it can be done, do I just remove the little black plugs in the clamp and losen the clamp bolts a little?

Sure you can move it to your liking so long as cables do not bind.

You will have to lossen the 4 bolts quite a ways as the bar is knurled so it doesn't rotate.

I did mine for the exact reason--tipped them back and much more comfortable.

Well, that was pretty easy. Took longer to fab a wood handle for the allen wrench to be able to generate enough torque to pop the bolts then it did to losen them, reposition the bar and tighten them back. It's much more comfortable. Can't believe it took 14 months to think about doing this.

I moved mine back about 1.5 inches a while back, and it made a big difference. After the change and a quick test I went on a 250 mile ride, it was a lot more comfortable.

Just don't forget to adjust the mirrors before you pull out into traffic...

And you know this how???

I am thinking of pulling them back another notch. I still feel like I'm reaching out a little too far. It's much better though.

I had to pull mine back quite far when i got it, the dealer had them straigt up in the air. While it looked cool didnt feel great. Rolled back til they were in line and now it's just wonderful.

I too move my handlebars back and enjoy the handling. i have found that moving them back too far seems to "kill" the engine when I may a hard right turn when backing out of my garage. So i moved them up just a little and that seemed to solve the problem.
