I am building a custom sport bike hybrid and was considering the vn800 for the driveline. I like the look and higher compression ratio and slightly higher hp of the 750... I know the 800 comes from the 700/750 line and was wondering if any of you have gotten a good look at the business end of the output shaft while wrenching on your scoot. I have a machine shop capable of CNC milling a suitable drive shaft spline/sprocket adapter but I want to know if the drive shaft rotation is appropriate for chain drive, as some shafties rotate in reverse rotation. I also wonder if the vn 800 bits would bolt on in this area and make my life easy. If any of you have input about this output shaft question please fill my inbox with your outgoing!

Good question. I've had my transfer cover off but never thought to see which direction it rotated in. I've never heard of anyone doing this conversion. Please keep us posted on your progress. You might want to post the question over to the yahoo group.

Thanks for the reply Red Baron! It looks like I'm going to be using a vn800 engine setup and installing a turbo. The 800's lower compression ratio and larger displacement make it a better choise, as well as already being chain drive.

Thanks much,
Jason!
