According to the manual I have, you must drain the coolant and remove the thermostat housing in order to remove the carb. Does that sound right?

I don't recall anyone who has pulled the carbs saying they had to drain the coolant, but both the Clymer and Kawasaki manuals say you have to remove the thermostat housing and radiator cap assemblies for clearance, so maybe you do.

I've seen me do it twice. Never messed with coolant or thermo. That being said, it was an agrivating wrangle to get the carbs in and out. You must have some degree of patience.
