I am going to have to remove the carbs & clean the jets on my 2001. Any advice from
someone who hs done this? Anything to look out for?

Just got finished doing this to my 94. Getting them off the first time was a pain in the "neck". Just be patient... they will come off. After cleaning them, be sure to get the diaphragm back in the groove around the edge (a little grease helps them stick in there.) I got it in wrong and had to take the carbs off again and redo them because the bike was running wierdly. After I got them back in correctly (the second time was lots easier), the bike is running fine. Good Luck... It's an interesting project... have fun.

At times, it may feel like they either won't come out or won't go back in. They will. It's like fitting a round peg into a square hole. Be sure that you drain as much of the gas as you can before you pull them. I got a face full of gasoline when mine finally "popped" out. So save yourself a trip to the ER and an eye infection of sorts and don't YANK on your carbs (oops). Keep a fire extinguisher handy (any time you are messing with fuel), make sure you have lots of room and everything you need, and have fun...

Thanks for the advice guys. I have removed the carbs from the bike & you were right. It was not easy, It took me several hrs to get them off. It looks like putting them back on will be just as tough.
One question, is there a trick to remove & install the rubber boots or ducts
from the surge tank. I forced them off & put a hole in the rear one. Checked
the price at Ron Ayers. $40 ouch!
