Dude... That really sucks. No chance of an engine swap huh!?
I've been ready for a slightly larger bike so here is my chance.

Don't overlook the Nomads and Classics.I have had excellent service from my 1500.The Nomad is Kinda between a Cruiser and full on Bagger.

I see you are looking at the Hondas and the Yamahas so you are considering used The VTX has been replaced by the Stateline, Interstae and Fury, they are getting harder to find,The VTX is a good bike but you will have that same feeling of needing another hear on the highway like your 760.The Yamaha I don't know about as I haven't ridden one but they are air cooled which is rough if you are doing PGR duty in the summer.Look around a little and try a few out before you decide.

Rough way to move up,I hope you find something that suits you pretty soon.

Oh yeah,I always thought your bike was a slick ride, especially after you changed the bars.
