went out to move the bike hit the button and nothing

bike in nuteral green light on kill switch on hit the button nothing

jump the silonoid bike cranks but wont start

coils have power but no spark

checked pick up coils for continuity and they are good checked them to ground not grounding out

jumped pins 4 9 and 12 to ground bike starts but as soon as i grounded all three wires the fan came on

grounded only pins 9 and 12 fan stayed off bike started but died battery was low from all the trying charging battery now

question is which switch do i need to bypass and how do i bypass that switch safely until i can get the funds to replace it?

update i cut out the ground to pin 9 so that only pin 12 was grounded and it started with the button every time i tried

if it helps my bike is wired completely with a 96 cali model harness and the wire in pin 12 is solid black

JB Pins: 4 Grounds out the Fan relay
9 Grounds the headlight relay
12 Ground the starter Relay

Charge your battery and try again with out pin 12 grounded. If the starter doesn't engage, trace the black wire back to the starter button... the starter button contacts could be corroded, or the connector (I don't remember where its located).

thats what i was thinking after i got off the forum last night so it is mostlikely not a problem inside the jb since it works by grounding last time i tried it last night the battery was fully charged and stillno go without the pin jumped to ground

also i noticed in one of your diagrams that pin 12 is also the ground for the 3 diodes for the saftey switches so if one of the safteys arent grounding would that cause the starter button to be unresponsive

no... its not for the ss diodes.. there is only one ss diode.. the three diodes are for the Stator wire.. to shunt off all (-) charged electrons. your issue has me baffled..

damn i found one super slim cant figure out i knew black betty was special

am i right in saying that if everything on a vn 750 is working then if you put the side stand down with the bike in gear it will die?

if that is correct then my original wiring and side switch were faulty cause i could put the stand down in gear and she still ran and i could put it in gear withthe stand down and ride off i could also start it in gear with the clutch out and stand down or should i say the starter would engage
and when i got the 96 donor bike cali model i switched the side stand switch the whole harness and the neutral switch so that they were all from the 96 only thing that remained of the 86 was the ignition and the clutch switches and i can still do all of the above but if i unplug the clutch switch i cant start the bike

and then of course there was the issue last night where i had to ground pin 12

IIRC, there are 5 diodes in the JB. Three for the interlock switches and two for the headlight relay.

you are half way correct Dariv, Three for the headlight to filter out the AC wave pattern, and two for the Safety switches. NSS and Clutch are on one diode, and side stand is on the other.

With all due respect, I do not believe this is so. They way I see it there are two diodes for the headlight relay. One, as you say, to clip the AC to pulsed DC and the second to keep that signal from back-feeding through the latch circuit and out the headlight. The other three are for the TCI blocking circuit. One diode for the neutral switch, one for the clutch, and the third for the side stand. The neutral switch and clutch are connected, but only when the clutch is out. When the clutch is pulled in, the power flows through a separate diode going to the clutch switch and then to ground.

hey slim didnt i say something like that but a lot less technical i was kinda wondering why you were questioning it when it was your wiring diagram i saw it on but i let it go

turns out i was right lol but i know you got a bunch of diagrams and things slip your mind :)

ouch

How's that ?

My Wiring harness was giving me issues, so I go another wiring harness, and the issues became worse... so I made a new harness, which.. one thing leads to another, and "the Creepshow" was born. And now I realize it was all because my JB was for some other bike, and some one adapted the first harness to work.

For some reason this thread has me laffin out loud! I think the Creepshow needs a real bona fide Vulcan 750 jb ...then maybe things will start sorting themselves out. Maybe. Sounds like a good place to start. Maybe.
