I'm getting ready to change my stator in my 04, just need to order gaskets last thing to do ,and in the the motor tilting process is the bevel gear attached to the drive shaft and is it necessary remove, I'm not wanting to take it off to much. A little nerves sorry.

and if I remember correctly it is just the few bolts holding it on, no gaskets and just the rubber boot to slip off the rear of it. keep the opened side up though (side that is mounted to the bike) cause there is a small gear in there that will just fall out that the clutch cable hooks too I believe and you will have to reposition it. no major prob if it does fall out though. grease your shaft splines while our in therewith moly 60 too!
