Got some bad news today, getting my "new" bike registered will be over 500$, that with the repair bills is going to be a little too much for me.

As such, I'm going to setup a paypal and try to part out this bike to recover some of the cost myself and my girlfriends dad put into it.
The bike is fully stock, and it ran besides the poor tires and leaky carbs. If anybody needs parts, let me know how much you're willing to pay, and I'll see what I can do once I get a paypal setup. The seat is trashed, paint is flaking on the gas tank W/ rust on the inside, I DO have a key for it though, and the buttons were a little sticky for the controls. Other than that, the bike runs
(When put together) and sounded great. The turn signals are also broken :(

Motor shows only 12k miles

Yea man, my girlfriends dad never non-opped it since he planned on fixing it. Over 330$ in late fees since 2010 :/ if I didn't have to replace the tires, fix the carb, and the other small things I would still fix it. I just don't want to risk putting that money into it and end up that deep in the hole if more is wrong with it

That's a good idea Wolfie, I'll look into that. I've got some time before I'll be able to strip the bike and actually send out parts, so send me lists and if I can't find a way around the registration the whole bike will be up for grabs. Really a bummer the reg is so much, was really lookin forward to havin my first bike as a project/experimentation ride.

I used to live in California. Send them docs that say the bike was not on the road for those years..... it's true, right?

Might be true, if it was in storage of some sort. This was just sitting in a yard though, there won't be any documentation of it :/ no maintenance records either.

I've decided to pull apart the spline and check the condition of it. If it looks in damn good shape I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and just pay the registration

I was wrong. I forgot about the 'P' - meaning PLANNED non operation. Dammit. Oh well, if it was sitting in a yard that might work, though. Here are the exempts - pick one and make it work!!:

Mopeds
Vehicles with registrations that expire while in dealer or lessor/retailer inventory
Vehicles with registrations that expire while being held for lien sale by an authorized towing company or parking facility
Vehicles which are part of an apportioned or permanent fleet
Special Equipment (SE) as defined in Vehicle Code §§245, 565, 570, and 575
Unrecovered stolen vehicles
Title Only vehicles that are currently located and registered in a state other than California

Hard to tell from the pics but if the fuel tank is really good I'd take it. I dropped my bike doing a u-turn on a gravel road (yep, I'm still learning) and put a huge dent in the tank of my '03. How much after shipping to 30558?

I am sure glad Alberta doesn't charge for back registration on vehicles.
I had never heard of such a thing until I read about on here some time ago.

New York dont...matter of fact, according to NY law, a vehicle needs to be insured while its registered....the exception, bikes !...since some get 6 month insurance policies...good ju ju :smiley_th....but Im sure Cuomo will change that too...

And my K-Blazer been unregistered and uninsured for 4 years now...long as I keep it hidden/garaged, its all good....
