like the title says. it seems like the wiring for my headlight is backwards. i have a 92 vulcan 750. 14000 on the bike. with the switch in the low postion it barely puts out any usable light and is really high. if you put it in the high position it gets brighter but still not very bright and is lower than the low beam. and if you have it on low but hold pressure towards high the low pattern gets really bright. almost like that is supposed to be my high beam. do you think i need a new switch assembly or is there a simpler/cheaper solution

could be a bad switch.....
Check the connector under the left side neck cover. With the bike running, check for voltage at the blue/yellow wire. With the switch in the low position, check for voltage on the red/yellow. In the high position, check for voltage on the red/black wire. If that passes, check the connector right at the headlight. red/yellow is low beam, red/black is high beam, and black/yellow is ground.
