Hi everyone. I'm brand new on here, have a '91 750.

My Problem is, the battery is not charging while the bike is running. Turned off, the battery gives 12.5 volts. When started, it drops down to +/- 11.75. The stator does seem to be working (somewhat)--as the rpms go up, the volt reading goes up steadily, but tops off at just about 11.9-12.00 volts at 5000rpm. So, my battery is slowly but surely draining as the bike runs.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Nick

Find the three yellow wires leaving the stator and pull the leads out of the connectors (probably behind left cover)..... start the bike and check the AC voltage between the three pairs of yellow wires. ( like A to B, A to C, B to C ) IIRC, should be around 20 VAC at idle and up to around 80 VAC or so at 5k. If not, you got a bad stator.....
