Well today it is supposed to get to the high 70s, but with sustained winds of 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph... I probably wouldn't care about ridin in that much wind, but it has been a few days and I am hungry...lol...

Sun shinning and talk of warm temps here in Long Island NY and so I zipped on my new chaps and put on my new armored jacket and went out there froze my butt off for a while so I turned around, went home and I'm waiting for a warmer day without the darn WIND

Gemguy, it must have got near 80* here but there was sure plenty of wind, didn't seem to bother me as bad as I thought it would though, all the others had windshields and were complaining though...
Well it was only 4 lanes and better 2 lane Hwys., no mountain twisties, just 228 mi of nothin, well they did cut across from one Hwy. to another on a sorta twistie back road, I did manage to scrape the right side peg one time in the 4-5 mi. crossover, but just barely...lol... Good to ride with the group but, that's just not my cup of tea, so I guess I will still have to depend on the solo rides for fun... Maybe they will do better the next time...lol...

Sounds like we appreciate the same kind of ridin' OD. Gotta love those older twisty state highways :smiley_th. I went for a little over 100 mi. today. Wind was blowin' my 500 lb. butt around a bit. I have to agree with the windshield comment. I put a plexistar II on and tried it out today. LOTS of buffeting on the helmet. I think my shield is too tall still, I plan to cut it down. I had to look through the top of the shield while riding. When I stood on the pegs, the turbulents seemed to subside somewhat.
The other thing I noticed today; while the bike ran great, I noticed the difference the oversized rear tire makes with acceleration. Seemed a bit sluggish. I also have developed a slight fluctuation in the tach reading. It seemed to 'float' around the rpm, not steady. No problem with the way the bike ran though. Had a good ride. Felt good.
Guess I'll have to check the wiring on that tach sometime soon.

Later,

Hey, she looks good Chuck...:smiley_th... I like the chrome tank & fender trim, and the straps and buckles on the bags, my Vikings just have the chrome button thingys...
I would rather have 100-150 mi. of good twistie mountain 2 laners than 500 mi. of 4-lane or streight 2-laners...lol... Can't beat those backwoods roads for fun ridin...

Thanks for the compliments. I've spent enough money fix'in her up to have bought a bigger, newer bike. But other than a super wide seat on some, I just have not found any other bike that I like the way it fits me, as far as leg and arm confort goes. Yesterday I was out in Bankhead Forrest and a bunch of crouch rockets come along and they were impressed as to the way I could take the curves and the exit speed she had.
