Where's a good place to check out new exhaust for VN700's? I haven't been able to find, but I haven't looked that hard either...

Cruzers or Cobras for the VN750 fir the VN700. Cruzers seem to be the favored if you are looking for a deep rumble sound. Cobras are loud, but be sure and get the heat shields for the and treat them for bluing.. they blue up about the faster. Cruzers have a double layer so you don'r need heat shields.

Sure are *S*
Most parts fit both bikes.
One note on After-market exhaust systems...Cobras use the existing right header pipe. If your right header is heavily blued or in rough shpe you should consider this when replacing your exhaust.. Double check to see if it is a full or partial replacement.
Also.. anytime you take your header pipe off, get new crush gaskets for it.
The Harley crush gasket that fits our bike is HD #17048-98

I did alot of serching for my 86- 750,and finally found a nice set. they are staggered,no rejetting, centerstand retention, all steel baffles. They are a bit loud though, but i was pleased with the 5% performance gain.they are available from: www.macperformance.com .1-800-367-4486 sug. list [Canadian]was$369.00 two years ago. they are easy to install and eliminate extra weight .The collector box is not used. Also, there is alot of clearance for saddlebags.

I would love to see a better pic of these...This may be what Ed was talkin' 'bout:

I would also love to hear them. I've drilled my baffles but I want a completely new system. I heard the Cruzers on Dago's bike and they sounded real good!

mac has other exhaust systems for the vn750, but no descriptions available in the store:
http://www.macperformance.com/store/category.cfm?SID=3&Category_ID=1473

and the staggered duals come in slash cut as well as tapered
http://www.macperformance.com/store/product1.cfm?SID=3&Product_ID=1564
although the only picture of the pipes they have in the store is in the installation instructions for the tapered tip duals
http://www.macperformance.com/store/PDF/002-1421 Instructions.pdf

the other 3 exhaust systems are straight pipes for the vn750
here are the names and part #s
Slash Back 2 1/4"Drag Pipes, mac performance part #002-1744
Slash Cut 2"Drag Pipes, mac performance part #002-1754
Fat Stakkers 2 1/4"Billet End Caps, mac performance part #002-1724
all mac exhaust for the vn750 are for years 1986 to 2003

here is the online catalog with some examples of the different exhaust pipes

Aftermarket exhaust parts are intended to replace the factory fitted exhaust components of a car, motorcycle, or other motor vehicle in order to improve the performance, visual appeal, or sound of the vehicle. Generally, performance enhancements are achieved by reducing the back pressure of the factory exhaust system. Flowmaster exhaust systems and mufflers come with that distinctive "Flowmaster sound" available in mild, moderate and aggressive tones.

After re-reading my previous post I can see how it might have been taken to to have a negative tone, which I did not intend. When I first joined this board I too spent a lot of time reading old posts and learned a lot from them. I found myself inadvertantly responding to some very old ones without realizing it, until it was pointed out by someone else.

So you are quite right to add current content to old threads for the benefit of new readers. Carry on and contribute whatever you wish to.:smiley_th
