So, been having trouble finding a part number for the VN750 85 front brake switch. The dealer gave me a replacement, but it doesn't fit. I have been looking at the parts fiche to try to get the correct part number but can't find the part. The problem is that the 750 didn't exist in the US in 85, and all the online parts fiches seem to be US based. I can't even get an accurate description of the bike on any online vin decoders, because of the same issue. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get a part number for this part? Would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks

Don

The throttle grip was changed along with the Rectangular/Round Master Cylinder....brake levers are not inter- changeable either.

The Change happened ( iirc) 1990.

So, 1986-1990 would all have the same replacement part #.
Look up 1986 or 1987...you should be fine.

Thanks for the reply. If I look up the part number I was given, 27010-1056 it comes up as :

"1986 VULCAN 750 (VN750-A2) - Front Master Cylinder"

But, this switch is not the same shape/orientation as the one on this bike and definitely will not fit.

Btw, I have a round master on this bike.

Just went through the parts I have for an 86 and the switch I have is definitely not the same. The 86 mounts facing forward but the one I need mounts on the bottom.

Well, what a saga. The dealership now suggests that someone has changed this. They of course are full of it. I even mentioned that this bike has the round master and they swear that the fiche shows it should be rectangular. i hate dealerships! Anyones, I found one on ebay that has a picture and is identical, but it's not cheap. 14 bucks plus more than 20 bucks to ship something that weighs like 2 grams. This is snowballing into a major pain in the a$$.

I do have the master from the 86 parts. But, it seems ridiculous to me to have to change the master just to replace a simple switch.

Any hydraulic 7/8" master cylinder will fit, where is your RH mirror?

Actually I figured that out :). Just came from the dealer and got the correct switch. Should be good to go now.
