I never did any of the work I wanted to do to my 2005 VK750. A friend offered to let me use his carport and I got things set up there, scheduled a week of vacation time and attempted to start the project but quickly realized this was going to be more complicated than I had thought. If I had my own garage then time would not be a factor. I could put the bike in there and take my time and between patience and help from the massive pool of knowledge on this forum I believe I could eventually work my way through it but I don't have that luxury. I have no place I can do this work and though I have a collection of tools, accumulated over thirty years, they are all in storage in New Hampshire so I have to buy tools for any project I undertake.

The park I live in is a gated, over 55 community where motorcycles are not really allowed, even though a lot of residents have them, but they have to be parked behind the main office building which is by the entrance to the park. To attempt to do this job right there in the park would send the whole park board of directors into fits and besides, who wants to do a project like this sitting on the asphalt in 100+ degree temperatures.
Anyway, I thanked my friend for offering to let me use his carport and packed everything out saying I was not going to tie up his carport indefinitely with an ongoing rebuild project which I had no idea how long it would take me.
He lives on Cudjoe Key and within a few weeks, Hurricane Irma came through and part of the eye made landfall on Cudjoe. His place took a few feet of water from the surge so it was probably fortunate that I took all my stuff home.
Bottom line is I decided to sell the bike.

This is a list of the new parts I have:
New Gaskets and O-Rings including O-Rings for driveshaft splinelube.
New Vibration Dampers
New Stator
New FH020AA MOSFET R&R
2 new TOC MCCTs
All new Rubber Water Hoses
Complete Factory Exhaust System (Used but in much better condition the original)
New Gasket set for exhaust system
Front Fender (Used but in better condition the original)
Rear Fender (Used but in better condition the original)
New Chrome Swing-Arm Caps
Used Engine Guard with all hardware

All together there is about $1000.00 worth of new parts and components

I know there are a number of people on this forum who are also in Florida and have experience working on these bikes, (which I don't have). If someone wants to make a drive to Key West and buy all these new parts for a thousand bucks, I'll throw in a 2005 Vulcan 750 to go with them!

Hey Doc, tried to send you a private message but apparently your stored message box is too full. Anyway, Yes, the dampers are for the motor. I was hoping I could sell the bike and all the parts as a complete package. I'd like to wait a bit and see if anyone is interested in a project bike with all the parts for it but if I get no takers then I'll sell off the parts.

I had hoped to go get a new bike by now but Irma knocked me back financially when I had to get a new rig to live in, but I am still planning on a new bike later this year.

I think you made a good choice not opening up that can of worms on a one week deadline, I don’t think I could do all of that work in a week with having done it all before. Try posting on Craigslist and OfferUp, that’s a hell of a deal your doing someone will jump on it. How many miles on your 05? I’ve got an 05 too.

Thanx Mike, that is a good suggestion. I think I will post this on Craigslist. I've seen a few other VN750s in the area.
