  1. Carbs and Fuel System
Hoping for some help, at least a little insight. My father recently purchased a 2005 750. It had been sitting in storage for about ten years. The tank was full of rust and petcock plugged, that was remedied. After reinstallation of the gas tank, a leak was discovered on the carb. It appeared...

Have myself a 88 750. I just picked it up from the original owner a week ago. It was running good for the first few miles…then it just started acting up. Hesitates like crazy!! And no power at all. It did sit for about a year. I looked at the air filters…and they were in literally a bunch...

2000 Vulcan seems to be backfiring more than normal when downshifting into turns or approaching stops. I know backfiring is somewhat normal but am I doing damage by letting it continue? How can I fix this? The bike did sit more than normal this summer. Could I have some carb gunk causing this?
  5. Carbs and Fuel System
Hey all! Long time lurker, first time poster. Ran into an issue the other day with my float on the rear carb, filled with gas through a little pin hole. Been racking my brain on melting, covering etc but now am just looking to replace. I found a replacement housing with both floats on kawi parts...
  6. Carbs and Fuel System
Hello, I recently got my first bike and had to take apart the carb to clean it out/ replace the jets. The main jet was already stripped by the previous owner so I used a ez out to remove it. Instead of loosening, (I’m guessing it was seized on) the threading snapped off and now I’m stuck on what...
  7. Carbs and Fuel System
Hey everyone, I have a very strange issue with the front cylinder of my 1990 Vulcan. When I try and start the bike, after a few cranks, there will be a loud noise followed by a faint bit of smoke/air forcefully shooting out the intake on the carbs. The engine will also kick back and temporarily...

I have searched and found some single carb conversions that seem to work, but just curious if anyone has done it successfully and it look good too. I have 2 Vulcans, a 700 and a 750 and I also have a 750 parts bike. I'm asking this because one of the carbs has a broken center plate and looks...

  10. Sell or Swap
Is there someone that got a carburator with number V147 YB15 for sale? Need the one that goes to the front cylinder if there is any difference between them. I might buy the entire butterfly if needed, as long as they are working, it is possible to turn the pilot mixing screws and the price is...

My bike was running fine, but backfiring a lot while decelerating. Seemed like at times it was not idling quite right. I pulled the carb and cleaned it out. I replaced the diaphragms with the JB industries one. I put it all back together and it started up and ran great. I jumped on the bike and...

Howdy. I got my 89 Vulcan last July or August and rode it for about a month before deciding to start working on it over the winter. I cleaned out the gas tank (I'll post my thoughts on the methods of doing so once I get it running again), put in Iridium plugs, and did the Ear Shave, and now it...
  13. Carbs and Fuel System
Bought an 89 vn750 about a month ago. Been playing with it alot. Sat for eight months before I got it. Got the carbs cleaned and bench synced, ran great for awhile. Ordered a new gas tank as the one on it had pinholes. Got that installed along with another carb cleaning to go along with new...
  14. Engine / Exhaust / Cooling
I've seen several people that seem to have the same or similar condition I have. At idle, my front cylinder seems to thump or just pump harder than my rear. (that sounded kinda funny). So my thoughts are: 1. Plugs, but no, I've used two different kinds, iridium and regular and even iridium on...
  15. Carbs and Fuel System
We rebuilt the engine due to a coolant leak in the rear head. New gaskets and cleaned carb. We put everything back together and double checked the timing. Now when starting, it will fire up and run cold without adding choke. When it gets warm, it backfires. When turned off, it doesn't start...
  16. Carbs and Fuel System
Hi guys new here, I need to fit a restrictor in my carb (stupid law) but to get one made I need to know the outer diameter of the carb where it fits into the inlet rubber which is bolted to the engine. Also does anyone else get an electric shock off the ht lead on the left?
  17. Carbs and Fuel System
I have a 1999 Vulcan 750 with no modifications. I had an issue about a month ago when starting the bike to come home from work. The bike cranked fine and ran with choke on for about 1 minute. I let the choke off and the bike was fine. I put the kick stand up, put it into gear and the bike died...
  18. Carbs and Fuel System
Ok, I realized I had an extra carb so I wanted to figure out why my idle was so high after synching my carbs. Well, it makes sense if you watch the video. Also, I tested for air leaks and found none using propane and WD40. The propane thing is kinda scary yo. Video is here...

Changed to K&N high flow ait filters (no earshave) and removed the square rubber grommets from the airbox intake to help improve airflow. Even with the air/fuel mixture screw 3 1/2 turns out the plugs are still a little light in both cylinders and I'm getting an occasional backfire (usually...
