  1. Replacing stock housing units/stuttering

    Carbs and Fuel System
Hey there everyone, I have a 1986 vulcan and have had stuttering that keeps me to 5500 rpms. I was told I could replace the chrome high air filters (which weren't suggested in the first place) with the stock ones and that would eliminate the stuttering and open up the bike. 2 things, has anyone...
  2. Need both air boxes (ears)

    Sell or Swap
Does anyone have the ears for sale? I need both. I don't care about the condition of the chrome, I need the rest of the boxes for both side. I have stripped bolts on both filter cages, I can't get either of them on or off....
  3. One Piece Airbox/Surge Tank Removal-no cutting

    Carbs and Fuel System
This is much quicker than the hour or so some have reported for sawing the box into pieces to remove it. The key to removing the airbox in one piece is unplugging the wiring harness and pulling the harness out of the frame. This makes just enough free space for the box to move up in the frame...

I have taken the carb apart, cleaned, put back together, inspected everything and it looks ok...I think (rookie) I put it back together (3hours later) got it started and rode for 4-5 miles and it appears...
  6. I sprung a leak!!

    Carbs and Fuel System
I just bought a 1984 ZN700 about a month ago. I have rode it to and from work about a dozen times with no problems. I took it for my first longer ride this weekend, and started leaking gas! I rode about 200 miles, and then the bike sat for about 2 days, when I took it out the next time i...
  7. Stuck Air Box Covers?

    Carbs and Fuel System
I tried unscrewing the three bolts that hold on the air box covers so I could clean and inspect my air filters but the front bolt on BOTH sides would not unscrew at all. I don't know if they're stripped or I'm just missing some procedure. The service manual depicts that they should just come...
