FYI picture doesn't work. Welcome to the forum though. Where are you located? There might be someone by who would like to meet up and ride or just hang out.

Posted it late last night and probably screwed it up. Live on Tybee Island 16 miles east of Savannah GA. Grew up in MI, but too cold for me now.

93 VN750 "el pelon"

So, while looking on craigslist for a car for my son, I ran across a '93 750 with 24,000 for $400. I wasn't looking to buy a bike, but I wasn't opposed to it. Haven't had one in a number of years but sure did like riding when I did. Had an '02 v-star 650 that I loved and found a great forum with tons of info, so I checked to see if the same thing existed for the Vulcan and found this site. Took a look and the guy told me the carbs and gas tank need to be cleaned. New tires and battery. Custom shop building some wicked lookin' choppers and lowrider baggers took it in on a trade. My wife was cool with it (been happily married for nearly 25 years because I don't surprise her with stuff like this :) Rented a trailer and brought it home last night.

Initial notice of screwed up stuff... key broken off in the gas cap and the gas cap hinge snapped. gas tank is rusty as crap inside, large flat dent on right hand side. mirrors missing. turn signals missing (but I don't use 'em anyway, so that's no biggie) right pipe scraped pretty good and has some burned on junk on it. handle bars tweaked a little, but I'll probably replace with apes anyway. grip ends raggedy. front brakes not working and one screw on reservoir stripped. fork seals look dry rotted.

This afternoon, I took off the carbs (and will most likely be doing the ear shave mod, if for no other reason than to never have to mess with that stupid box again!) There were some dry rotted hoses, but everything else looks pretty good. Opened one side up to do some recon and found this... which would go a long way toward explaining why it won't start up.

Gotta be out of town for the next week on business, so it's under a tarp waiting for further exploration. I was actually really glad to see how crappy the carbs were, because it may truly just be a case of gunk... will keep this updated as the refurb progresses. looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Is that post not visible anymore? I have approved it twice now. Its because he is posting pictures with a low post count. I had to approve the posts for that other thread too.
