Where to Buy parts online in Canada?

Got a question to any Canucks out there. Has anyone found a good online website for selling parts in Canada? Was hoping to find a good source so that I don't have to buy from the dealer. Might save some $$? Or has anyone had a great experience purchasing parts from the States where duty wasn't charged?
Thanks!

Really looking for a clutch kit and piston ring set.

Well, in your question I see the answer. "Online" is where your going to find what you need. Alot of folks like Bikebandit.com & Ebay is a huge source for parts. I know Canada likes to make everything Canadian so search outside ebay.ca You should find lots of clutch kits on ebay.

Alot of folks also like ronayers.com They are a dealer site but usually have decent pricing & you can order from their microfisch, like bike bandit.
As far as actual direct parts supplier in Canada, sorry I don't know of any off hand.

PS. when your choosing your model don't confuse US or CA for United States & Canada.
The CA actually stands for California. Those bikes had a slightly different emissions set up.

I can`t vouch for these suppliers, but I have the links so compare the prices and shipping charges with ronayers and bikebandit for the best deals.

Here is a link to a new website, Vulcan Riders of Canada, that you may be interested in. http://vracanada.prophpbb.com/

We are just getting it started and I was recruited as a moderator. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Where abouts in the Great White North are you? :)

Hey OlHossCanada,

I'm from Calgary and I'll check out that website you sent me. Would be good to connect with some Canadians to share information as we have limited riding and resources available to us!

Do you usually just head to your local Kawi dealer for parts?

Good to have another Vulcaneer in southern Alberta JJC. :smiley_th

There is another motorcycle forum called the Alberta Lone Wolves:

I don`t spend a lot of time on the ALW forum, but there seems to be a somewhat active group in Calgary, Edmonton and the communities nearby. I believe Loopy owns a paintball facility in Calgary where they have had a few gatherings. The Lone Wolves are just that, independent riders, not a motorcycle club. You will probably be able to get more info from that site about Canadian sources for parts.

I have not bought much for my bike because I had an accident on it just 6 weeks after getting it, and was off work on disability for 38 months. Bike not hurt much beyond some minor scratches. Rider not so lucky!
See story about crash in this link:

Just been back to work since September. I bought a set of *Pyramid* brand oil and dust seals for the fork tubes off ebay from Australia for $25 delivered, about 2 years ago. Still waiting to be installed. I have bought a few things from the dealer, ie. Kawi brand engine oil before I got educated here, a way too expensive bike cover, and more recently some fork oil and retaining rings for the top of the fork tubes when I pull them apart to check for any damage or wear and refill with new oil.

I think if a person is doing an extensive teardown and repair of the bike, then it makes sense to research prices and shipping costs on bikebandit, ronayers, cheapcycle parts etc. If it is small stuff, I will just get it from Ma Kaw locally.

I`ll check the Lethbridge Road Crew site and see if they have any local or Canadian vendors links there.

Sorry just two local sites. But drop in and have a look around if you are so inclined.

If you buy some part outside of Canada don't you have to pay an import? tax on it?
If you get the part from a local dealer, do you still have to pay that tax?

I know back when I was selling my custom parts for the Vulcan I'd ship the items and write "gift" on the form. Sometimes this worked, other times it didn't and the customer had to pay a tax. (somewhat high if I remember)

Guessing it also be "illegal" to ride your bike into the US. Get your parts at a US dealer, install them in the parking lot and then ride home....and not declaring anything at the border......

I can't imagine any problem with that actually. But their ride to the border would be cost prohibitive. I've bought stuff for my car while I was in Canada & it never crossed my mind to tell the border officer I installed new wipers & had my oil changed. lol

Besides, they're usually looking for the items your carrying across. :smiley_th
