Ignition key cylinder problem

Will the ignition cylinder and switch interchange on all years of the 750 and/or will other years/models interchange with a 2005. The key cylinder suddenly stopped working and would only turn partially to the off position. After taking it apart it appears as though the PO had been into it before. One screw on the switch was missing and the remaining one is bent. also the plastic around the slot on the top of the switch is chipped away. Is it possible to disassemble the key cylinder and try to see what is stopping it from rotating all the way to run. although broken and missing a screw the switch still functions.

Yes, all model years of the ignition switchs are interchangeable between each other.

This is the link from wib714`s sigline for rekeying his helmet locks.

Not really any info about disasembling the ignition key cylinder, but some info about moving pins in a cylinder to get it to function.

Here is a link to Crobins gallery with ignition switch pics.
Mostly pics of the bottom, not so much of the keyed cylinder portion.

As has been stated already, yeah, they'll all interchange. I haven't yet tried to disassemble the lock cylinder itself to see how it goes together, or re-key it, but I did figger out it's prolly more trouble than it's worth, since I already had a couple extras from having to buy new switches, and just using the old lock cylinder so I'd have the same key. That didn't fly when the key broke off in the old cylinder on my 750; couldn't get it out, so I've got one set of keys for the ignition, and the old keys for the rest of the locks.

And I know I'm not the only one that's got extra brand new lock cylinders with keys layin' around; after the second or third switch rebuild, several of us have gone ahead and bit the bullet and bought a new switch assy.
