Is it already spring!?!

Yaayyyyyy!!!! The old girl has been sitting and waiting on spring to come patiently. Finally hitting the 60s and sunshine! I drug her out today and give her a first bump over and she sounds as good as when i put her up. I relocated my other 3 to new homes so this is my only one at the moment. Iím looking to buy another this spring and build a bobber style bike. This isnít the greatest platform, or even a good one, for a bobber but itís one i know everything about so ill Give it a go. :)

Yíall remember i set my carbs and coasters to idle a certain way so the old heads already know what this video will sound like. The rest of ya, I basically do the opposite of everyone else when tuning. I like it loud and nasty. She pops and lopes and spits little fireballs in tunnels and makes me happy. :)

Hope yíall are ready for this season!! :)

Iím coming.....lol. Will be riding towards clearwater in mid summer for a 1 month trip. Iíve wanted to ride from TN to Clearwater, FL for a couple years. Iíll spend a couple weeks down there and beach bum.

Anyone have a perfectly stock VN idle video? I forgot what they sound like. I know they are quiet, but I donít remember how they idle. Like a sewing machine, i think?

It took me until my third VN to figure out how to set them the way i like. Iím going to take my gopro and take it for a ride next week. It sounds good and nasty :D

mine is in the shop, but i'd like to add a video of it when it gets done - decided i wasn't monkeying any more with the brakes after trying to bleed them and nothing came out -

PS i like your extended back rest - i would love to find one for my 750

Spring is here well you are lucky we got snow just the other day and freezing temperatures. I like the way your bike sounds in your video. I can't wait until my bike is fixed so I can go for my first ride in over a year and a half. Also what saddlebags do you have on your bike?

Well it sounds nice and lopey, like a big cam, but I'd be worried about lubrication at that speed.

However, very few engines are actually designed to idle very long at all.

How much oil is in the sight glass when it's idling? 1/4 - 1/3 - 1/2 - full?

I like how this sounds! I caught the under 1000 rpm idle speed on the tach. What else did you do to get that sound?
Do you ever get an oil light at idle when hot?

I’d gonna have to look inside for a tag. Been 5 years since the got them. Chose these because they have an angle that doesn’t interfere with the rear pegs.

Zero issues on any of the bikes over the last few years. Oil is at best just barely seen if at all. It’s all up top.

No issues. It’s degoated as well. Strong electrical helps. Has all the mods we do to electrical and a ricks stator that holds 13.7 to 14.3v at 800 rpm, depending on hot or cold.

Yes, indeed. Spring is here and I have been quite absent from this site over the winter and early spring. I did pull The Beast out a couple of weekends ago and fired it up. That went very smoothly, thanks to my battery, plugs, and Seafoam. I had started it up once in either December or January when it got into the high 50s, but not since then. Mine is a 1986, so I have a “prime” setting on my petcock. I still don’t have an exact science for that first startup, but it involves a little patience. In less than 10 minutes, though, she started up, blew a little gray smoke, and then settled into a reasonable idle. Fine ever since, like winter never happened.

I still haven’t replaced that front tire with the one I bought last season, so I can’t take any long rides until I get that done. I’m really not looking forward to it, but once I get over it and commit to doing it, it shouldn’t be that bad. And I’ll feel MUCH better about riding the bike with that new tire.

Welcome to the new season. I’m excited.
