Just bought a 94 Vulcan and noticed the tire looked old on it when I bought it and knew it needed to be changed. I know it's hard to tell how rotted motorcycle tires are from the outside but I figured I'd ride it the 60 miles home anyway and replace it before riding again. Well today I finally took the rear wheel off and read the tire date. I just about died, I couldn't believe it. If I am reading the tire correctly then this is the tire that came on the bike off the showroom floor...
I tried to get the castle nut off the other day but it was siezed on there. Used pb blaster, a blowtorch, couldn't get it off. Endedsing a 27mm axle wrench inside a 3 foot pipe today and that broke it loose. I don't think it's ever been off. At least that's what the rust on the axle threads is telling me.
