Jace Bror yeah so do I. It's letting rookie friends that dont even care about their own property nontheless other's get on your bike.

That spray deglosser is that something you mix, or do you spray right on the gloss clear coat? I used a clear coat that was for trunks, but was a semi-gloss finish, but with a flat paint it comes out flat. but it doesn't have the durability. I need high quality stuff. I don't think the rattle can stuff no matter what has the same durabilty level.

antiq If flat is what you want but need the hardness of auto paint. You may want use the gloss clear and just scuff of the gloss after it dries. IIRC there is also a spray deglooser available. I hope that helps. Bummer about the tank damage. That kind of thing is why I got in the habit of putting my leg over the back.

Jace Bror I can't wait to see the finished proguct. I pissed that I have to redo the tank. I was wondering about the quality of the clear coat I used. But thats why I was super careful. Always using paper towels around the gas cap when filing. Always watching my feet getting on and off. I think I may save and take it somewhere this winter and have a pro do the flat clear coat.

Here I am doing a bike in flat (I don't care) colour, and I am more worried about it then I was with my other bikes with their high-gloss pretty paint jobs.

antiq I can't wait to see the finished product! The covers fit perfectly with my tank BTW. I'll have to get the old girl finished up soon so I can get pictures. Thanks again.

Jace Bror I traded my side covers to antiq on here. Mine where the same colour as his whole bike, and he had some that were red. So I have to repaint those. The chrome ones cost too much. Right now they are flat army green.

I colored mine in with red auto touch-up paint. Looks great from 3 feet away.

flitecontrol Don't know how I missed this earlier, but it looks good. I'm prejudiced, 'cause I really like mine; gloss black with chrome side covers. Really makes it "pop", whoops, no that's not right, uh produces an appealing contrast between the two mediums, dang that's not it either... NUTS! IT JUST LOOKS GOOD!

Well almost done. I was showing it some of my non-rider friends, one of them was sitting on it, and when he went to get off dragged his fat foot across my tank. And it went deep. I had to sand down pretty deep, and have to redo the clear. Hopefully it will come out the same as the rest of the bike. I am really tempted to repaint the whole thing high gloss that way I can get a better clear coat on it. This whole flat thing is kinda a pain. Specially since I am trying to do this on the cheap.

Or maybe I just need new friends.
Just charge your buddy two cases of beer for every hour you spend to repair, next time he will be more or you will have more beer.
