Don't think I mentioned this before, I did drop the Nuvi 200 the first time I started to put it on the bike and it hit the concrete on the corner and made a place with a chip but didn't bother it a bit... I did track the 500 order (UPS) and it is on time for delivery tomorrow... Have a good one...Old Dog... PS-Got it in today 2-6-09 and am charging the battery....Back later... |

I'll keep y'all up on how it does, but I think it will be the trick for me since I aint into all the complicate stuff...lol... The main things I liked over the 200 for my cycle use was the water proofing, and the main thing was the 10 Custom Routes, I hated the 200 always trying to take me a route that I didn't want to go... OK-Pulled the trigger and ordered the Garmin Nuvi 500 from BrodwayPhoto @ $293 w/free shipping... We'll see how it does as a bike GPS, I'll put the Nuvi 200 in the cage and leave it there... I believe the 10 Hr. battery, water proofing, and for me the ability to pick routes will be a good thing... Thanks and have a good one...Old Dog... |

There is NOT one already on our bikes... I bought one in the boating Dept. of china-mart and installed it on mine... I mounted mine (2-screws) under my rear luggage rack (see edit) and run the wires under the seat and wired it into the 2 accesory wires under the right side plastic cover (where the Vulcan thing is) and fused it and also put a toggle switch on the front of the plastic cover... NOTE-The one I bought used 2-screws and had a spring snap cover and was water proof... The next one I bought (for my lawn mower) was a bit different (they didn't have one like the first one) from the 1st, it used 4 screws and had a spring snap cover and was water proof... I don't smoke but use them to check (volt meter) and charge my batteries, and on the cycle to charge cell phone, GPS, and whatever, very handy & useful little add ons, especially for the cycle I think... Edit- It is under the luggage rack but mounted on the signal light extention plate... Have a good one...Old Dog... |

| LibertyPilot | Ok, I read in another post about the port for a cigarette lighter on our bikes (or cell phone/GPS charger, etc). I should know this but I don't so screw it, I'm asking. Did you guys install the port on your bikes somehow? Is it factory and I'm just oblivious? I looked briefly one day after reading the post but I couldn't find it. If there's one already on our bikes, where is it? |

| cliffhusn | I mounted my Magellen Roadmate 3050T to the handlebar. Bought the mount for $11.00 and a hardwire kit for about $15.00 on-line. The 3050 is no longer in production but you can find refurbished or used ones out there very cheap. It is an excellent GPS and great for a motorcycle. I wired it to the aux port in the left side cover. The mount is very secure, it has never popped out, I do tether it for security but haven't needed it. It's mounted in a good spot, easy to read. |

I was just looking through the nuvi 200 specs... it is a tad limited for a garmin. I'm actually suprised at the lack of features. Garmin does make a good gps but so does Magellan. I've bought 2 gps units from the guy I linked above. His prices are pretty hard to beat & if he doesn't have what your looking for be patient, his stock is always changing. That one seems to be what your looking for.
