|M_Angell||You could also take it to a welder and see if they could braze or tig that back together after you clean the jb off of it.|

|asteroidasteroid||Well it's been a while but I unscrewed the oil sensor and the casing around it just fell apart. The oil sensor screw was bent. Bought a new one and asked my Moms BF (who's an auto mechanic) to try and JB weld it, he thought it'd work. Didn't work. Probably looking at swapping the engine or buying a new Vulcan and swapping my new bars, wiring, exhaust to the new one..|

Dude why don't you pull the motor yourself? If I can do it anyone can lol.
BTW you could easily just tell them its a 2006...unless they check the Vin they won't know any different.

Didn't hit anything but the ground. If it did, I probably wouldn't be talking to you right now. I think what happened was the forks twisted up and the front fender bent back and hit the oil filter & that oil pressure gauge. I've called two of the best shops in South Florida and they're both too busy to strip it and take the motor out, weld it and put it back together so I'm pretty much assed out of that option right now. Being a 99 most shops won't even touch it.
I investigated an engine swap, I found a 2001 engine with 8,000 on ebay for $600 shipped, but I'm guessing it'll be around $600 to get the original motor out too.
I could also try and drill out the hole, tap it and use a heli-coil like M_Angell suggested.
And theirs always the $10 JB Weld option.
With all the bad luck I've had with this bike since the crash I'm now dubbing it the Cursed Kawasaki Vulcan. It looks good but it's just a giant paper weight. On that note, who wants to buy this piece of sh**!? haha

|VN750Rider/Jerry||That was some crash. Glad you didn't get seriously injured or killed. The damage still does not make sense to me. It must have hit something. Otherwise how could the front end have turned into a pretzel with no damage to the rear? Even the oil filter is dented. I would check the case where that sensor goes. It is made of fairly porous aluminum, which could still crack even after being welded. If it was damaged in the crash, it is likely to be more than stripped threads.|

Yeah, everything looks and works great besides this problem. I'm not completely sold on the JB Weld idea yet. I haven't had a chance to look at it closer and see any cracks but it'll be at my house when I get home from work tonight..

Man those are some nice forks....
Anyway if the hole is stripped you could always drill it out and put a heli-coil in to fix it. Sure jbweld will work, but that's almost never a good solution IMO. Its kind of a tricky situation because you don't want metal shavings in your crankcase. What I would do is pul the sender out and see why it would leak. Is the hole stripped, are there cracks around it, what is going on?
