Fuel Lines pictures

Thanks for the Pictures. With these we got the Choke Cable
on (No need to pull the carb again - Just a bit of patience require).

Now we can get the Fuel lines back in the right place.

By the way in case anyone is curious about the Electrical going out there is a thin Wire the is close by the Negative Battery Wire. It comes out of the
Harness (bundle of other wires) and it goes under a bolt on the Frame. Likely this wire comples the Circut for all the Negative cables to Frame Ground. It was fractured and once I fixed it, the bike started up (Before having to pull the starter to test it...).

Last three issues are :

1. Clamp down the fuel lines in the right place and next check for hose leak vs non clamped leak

2. Small leak in the cooling system.. Unknown as to where got to run it to find it.

3. Front Brakes .. New (Used) master cylinder needs to be bleed.
Clymers manual says can be done manually but need suggestions and tricks.

CMess let me know if you need me to explain that more. Hopefully the secound picture will help me explain your plastic T fitting... There are two more nipples in between the two carbs. Above where that fuel line i circled is. They are vacuum lines, however they are thicker that the ones that go into the sides of the carbs for the emission/pedcock.... Fallow me so far? These two lines are router together to that T fitting. Then the third line is routed above the carbs and above that air "manifold" (that plastic air box that is always in the way). On the VN700 (which is what my '85 is) there is a nipple for this line on the bottom side of the gas tank. It looks like a small plastic box stuck underneath.
Make sure this line doesnt get pinched when you put the gas tank back on.

Let me know if I confused you or if I can help more.

Good Luck!

guitar99 CMESS,

I do need a picture or to know exactly where the hoses on the petcock
go. I pretty sure the one going straight is vaccume and goes to the close
Nipple on the carb. The two Gas lines ??? Which one where?

Also, there is a Black Plastic "T" that we are still trying to make sure
the Vaccume Hoses go to the right place... We have one that is missing.

CMess Choke cable runs down the left side of the bike then through the middle of the carb there is a metal bracket which is a triangle holder. It holds the end of the cable housing.

bullwinkle guitar99,
There are several pictures in the manual, you can download the manuel from:
This is a very big Adobe file, it contains a parts list for all years of the vn700 & 750. Save it to your hard disk so you don't have to download it every time you want to view things.

On page 2-8 shows the area at the end of the choke cable
On page 2-14 it shows another pic of the end of the choke cable
Page 2-18 shows the routing of the hoses of the carbs
Page 2-25 shows pic of fuel petcock
Let us know how we can help
