I have a rear white wall tyre on my VN750, 1991, the bike shop put it on when I had the bike rebuilt after it stood inused and unloved for about 3 years. I didn't expect the white wall tyre but it was cheaper than the others, cannot remember the manufacturer at the moment.
I'm out of Kuala Lumpur at the moment, in Pachuca, Mexico for another week and I don't have all my photos on the notebook PC. I do have a picture of the VN on the web album, have a look at :-

Doug I replaced the stock Dunlop Qualifiers 100x90-19 & 150x90-15 that came on the bike. I don't know if they were just too old (23 yrs) or just plain junk, but with 6200mi on them they were down-right scary. Anything but a smooth flat road and you had a death grip on the handlebars.
I have no Clarence problems anywhere with the 170x80-15 rear tire, swing arm or center stand. The front tire 110x90-19, is a close fit to my Kaw Touring fender, but it dose'nt rub.
The bike is now a pleasure to ride, it handles all the road conditions with ease, some of which use to make me cringe when I came across them, with the old tires.

My PO cut that center brace out of the center stand when he put the 170 on.

Hey Doug, I ordered and mounted the kenda 170 on the rear of mine and I have to say that I really like the handling that it gives over the stock rear. It hugs the road very well and has giving me more confidence in the tighter turns over the last stock set that I had mounted. I havent had ant issues with it drifting the road due to the grooves and ridges. The only issues that I have come across is that it does make the RPM's jump by about 5 or 6 hundred and the center stand I had to add a spacer (Duct tape for now) to keep it from rubbing the tire. Hope that helps.

What size rear did you have before you bought the Kenda? Does the 170 you have now follow the grooves/ridges in the road at all?
My bike came with a 170 on the rear from my PO, but I ordered the stock size to replace it. My tires now instill zero confidence, and I'm not sure if it's the tire, age of tire, or size, so I figured getting decent rubber in the stock size would be the best place to start...

Dam. That's pretty good right there, nice job.
I spent the last two days scouring the web for tires, cause I need new ones in a bad way. I looked at alot, but I think I missed the Kenda's.
I was hoping to try some Metzelers' but the need for "new right now", got bigger than the wallet would allow for the "want".
I found one set only available in "wide white sidewall" and started wondering if anybody runs a WW on these bikes. I'm not at all a fan of WW on anything, but just wondered how it would look on a Vulcan.
Anyway, thanks again for the info.
