Crobins365 I'd be inclined to replace the final drive, but he should take a look at the splines and see how bad they are. If the shaft is ground to some level of dust, chances are good that the final drive side did the grinding... There have been a couple of final drives on eBay lately - he might want to start there, where the cost is low(er).

VN 750 Help

A friend bought a VN 750 end of last riding season. Early this season it broke the splines off of the drive shaft. He's looking for a new drive shaft as we speak. I haven't had a chance to look at the pieces yet but, if it broke the splines off is it a given the drive shaft and diff are both in need of replacement? I'm not a mechanic by any means, but it seems to me if the thing was dri enough to break parts, everything else would be ground up. He's got it in his head all he needs is the splines. Could some one with a little knowledge of this bike chime in and give an educated quess for me.
