Re: Trailering my bike

I use my car and a 5'x8' trailer when I haul my bike. Mainly because I don't have a pick up... The trailer tilts and I ride my bike on to it. The problem is the bike is so centered over the axel the trailer will not fall back down on its own, have to have someone to push it down for me. Because of this I am planning on getting a 2"x12" board and make a ramp out of it using a kit from J C Whitney. Of course the trailer would still only be a foot and a half or so off the ground, much lower than the tailgate of the truck.

Trailering my bike

Does anyone carry their bike in the back of a pickup truck? I have a Ford Ranger and would like to be able to load my bike in the back. There are several types of ramps on the market, but some look scary to me, I don’t want to drop the bike or ME. And do you drive the bike up the ramp or push it?

Maybe a trailer would be better… Any comments on how you transport your bike would be a help.

Thanks, Andy
