norsseman Yep there's a lot of engine maintenance that needs to be looked into?

BTW, I was reading that a few years ago Yamalube recommended motor oil changes every five trips.

theauhawk Before I (we?) pass any negative judgment on engine longevity, I'd be curious to know a lot more about the history of both these engines that have failed......

The fatal breakdown

The counterbalancer just went on my bike. That's it I am done with it. It has a new stator and hoses. I planned a couple of long trips with it this summer. Thankfully I wasn't on one of them when it broke. I will be putting it on E-Bay as a parts bike. BTW this was the second engine I had one go on both had about 40,000 miles on them so you guys with the higher mileage bikes beware. Mike
