Rebel13 | Changing bearings is quick (5-10 min) and easy. That video is exaggerated badly. When everything is off the bike and everything needed to be removed, simply use a punch from the opposite side tapping it out in a round pattern. To install, make sure the bearing and hub is clean and lightly lubed, then place the bearing in place, use a socket, largest to fill the hole placed on bearing and tap it in with a hammer in a round pattern untill in place. Same way works for most bearings and races. |

You only need to replace them when they are worn out. If you have no side to side play and the wheel spins true with no weird noise, all is good. Bearings can go out in 10,000 miles or 100,000 miles. No real figure for replacement. If it makes you happy, go ahead and replace them, they don't cost alot.... ![]() |

Wheel Bearings All.. I do not own a 750, I am here due to some other people here that like to ride asked me to join. So I did, nice crowd here. I know most of the 750's have wheels with no spokes (so the tires are tubeless) But I do not think that all matters for my question. I have almost 50K miles on my 800 drifter its a year 2000 bike. I do not feel anything strange yet but kind of don't want it to get to that point. When do you need to replace front wheel bearings usually? Or when should you? I am going to go see how hard all that is, maybe I will do that this winter along with the valve clearance check out Kenny |
