If you think the whirring is coming from the timing chain, try adjusting the MCCTs.

|baldy||The coffee grinder sound is the clutch when you first start out with the bike cold. When you let out the clutch you will hear it on the ride side of the bike. Not sure what your sound could be at 60mph. Mine has a bit of a vibration at 60 and if I pull the clutch it stops. I have loud pipes so can't tell if it is whirring or not. I'm thinking the balance pulley needs new parts.|

Coffe Grinder sound?
I have seen the phrase "Coffee Grinder sound" in several posts. Is this what you all are referring to?
Today I took my first ride in a years with the stock exhaust back on (got tired of the straights) and for the first time I hear a distinct "WHIRRRRRING" sound up to about 60, then quiet. I have MCCTs so I think it's not there. For all I know this could be a normal sound. I haven't heard this engine w/o straights for a very long time.
I believe it's coming from the timing chain.
Am I worried about nothing? The bike runs great, no problems, oil screen has always been clean.
